Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 24%, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the global medical industry in Q2 2024, ahead of Management Occupations with a 10% share of job postings.

The other prominent roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 5% share in Q2 2024, Healthcare Support Occupations with a 43% share and Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 40% of hiring activity

The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 40% share of the overall hiring activity in the global medical industry in Q2 2024.

TotalMed Systems posted 34,559 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a growth of 48% over the previous quarter, followed by Fresenius SE & Co with 7,600 jobs and a 78% growth. Heinen + Lowenstein with 6,567 jobs and Thermo Fisher Scientific with 5,338 jobs, recorded a 26% growth and a 10% rise, respectively, while Laboratory Corp of America Holdings recorded a 3% drop with 5,199 job postings during Q2 2024.

Hiring activity was driven by North America with a 65% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

North America held the leading share of the new job postings in the global medical industry with a 65% share, a 2% higher over Q1 2024. Europe stood next with 22%, registering a 9% growth over the previous quarter.

Asia-Pacific with an 11% share marked a 10% drop over Q1 2024. The South & Central America and Middle East & Africa accounted for shares of 17% and 13% respectively.
