Management Occupations drive medical hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 15% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the North American medical industry in Q1 2023 , ahead of Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations with a 10% share of new job postings.
The other prominent roles included Computer and Mathematical Occupations with an 8% share in Q1 2023, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 7% share and Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies accounted for 23% of hiring activity
Laboratory Corp of America Holdings posted 6,605 jobs in Q1 2023 and registered a growth of 13% over the previous quarter, followed by West Pharmaceutical Services with 3,367 jobs and a 168% growth. Abiomed, with 2,272 jobs, and Becton Dickinson and Co, with 1,815 jobs, recorded a 214% rise and an 85% drop, respectively, while Stryker recorded a 0.4% decline with a 1,724 new job postings during Q1 2023.
Regional analysis of hiring in the North American medical industry, Q1 2023
The US held the leading share of the North American medical hiring activity with a 97.36% share, a 24% decrease over Q4 2022. Canada was next with 1.90%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
