Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 18%, emerged as the top medical device quality control-related job roles within the medical industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 2% quarter-on-quarter. Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 0.56% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent medical device quality control roles include Production Occupations with a 10% share in Q4 2023, Management Occupations with a 10% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 37% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Laboratory Corp of America Holdings, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Intelerad Medical Systems, Baxter International, and Quest Diagnostics. Together they accounted for a combined share of 37% of all medical device quality control-related new jobs in the medical industry.

Laboratory Corp of America Holdings posted 773 medical device quality control-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Thermo Fisher Scientific 397 jobs, Intelerad Medical Systems 367 jobs, Baxter International 339 jobs, and Quest Diagnostics 268 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 72.44% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of medical device quality control-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 72.44% followed by the UK (4.49%) and Germany (4.14%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 77.49% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
