The top five companies accounted for 13% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Align Technology filed the most 3D printing patents within the medical industry in Q3 2024. The company filed 18 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 12 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Johnson & Johnson with 9 3D printing patent filings, Carlsmed (7 filings), and Stryker (5 filings) in Q3 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 35% share of total patent filings
