The top five companies accounted for 11% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that johnson & johnson filed the most cybersecurity patents within the medical industry in Q3 2023. The company filed 14 cybersecurity-related patents in the quarter, compared with 24 in the previous quarter. It was followed by DexCom with 13 cybersecurity patent filings, Samsung Group (11 filings), and I-Sens (7 filings) in Q3 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 47% share of total patent filings
The largest share of cybersecurity related patent filings in the medical industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 47%, followed by China (16%) and South Korea (9%). The share represented by the US was 8% higher than the 39% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
