The top five companies accounted for 15% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Johnson & Johnson filed the most smart hospitals patents within the medical industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 99 smart hospitals-related patents in the quarter, compared with 91 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Koninklijke Philips with 95 smart hospitals patent filings, Abbott Laboratories (53 filings), and Medtronic (42 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 29% share of total patent filings
