The top five companies accounted for 11% of patenting activity

Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Legend filed the most social responsibility patents within the medical industry in Q2 2023. The company filed 1 social responsibility-related patent in the quarter. It was followed by Johns Hopkins University with 1 social responsibility patent filing, GRI-Alleset (1 filing), and Baxter International (1 filing) in Q2 2023.

Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 46% share of total patent filings

The largest share of social responsibility related patent filings in the medical industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 46%, followed by China (22%) and Japan (7%). The share represented by the US was 3% higher than the 43% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
