A rotation assembly for connecting to an operating table has been granted a patent (Publication Number: US11918520B2). The assembly is designed to rotate a patient's leg around its longitudinal axis and includes an interface for attaching the foot of the patient's leg, a rotor connected to the interface in a torsionally resistant manner, a stator for mounting the rotor, a rotary handle for rotating the rotor, and a locking assembly to block the rotation of the rotor relative to the stator. The rotary handle is mounted on the rotor to move it around an axis of rotation, and the locking assembly is actuated by moving the rotary handle along the axis of rotation in an axial direction away from the interface.

The rotation assembly features a locking assembly with multiple groups of locking pins and locking recesses, where the number of locking pins differs from the number of locking recesses. The rotor includes through-holes for the locking pins, with one of the groups being spring-loaded. Upon release of the locking assembly, all locking pins are simultaneously pulled out of the recesses against a spring preload by moving the rotary handle along the axis of rotation. Additionally, a release ring is included to make contact with the locking pins during this movement, ensuring smooth operation of the rotation assembly for medical procedures involving leg rotation.
