Total medical devices industry venture financing deals worth $936.83m were announced in North America in January 2021, led by $190m venture financing of Valo Health, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 2.9% over the previous month of $910.37m and a rise of 13.2% when compared with the last 12-month average of $827.43m.

North America held an 82.18% share of the global medical devices industry venture financing deal value that totalled $1.14bn in January 2021. With an 81.52% share and deals worth $929.33m, the US was the top country in North America’s venture financing deal value across medical devices industry.

In terms of venture financing deal activity, North America recorded 27 deals during January 2021, marking a decrease of 42.55% over the previous month and a drop of 52.63% over the 12-month average. The US recorded 24 deals during the month.
