Canada’s medical industry registered a 16.0% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.57% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the medical industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.77% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 1.71% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s medical industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s medical industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 73.33% in March 2022, registering a 25.68% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed an 8% share, a decrease of 45.45% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 5.33%, registering a 100% rise from February 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 5.33%, down 60% over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 2.44% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s medical industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

Sonova posted 14 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 46.15% over the previous month, followed by MedAutonomic with 8 jobs and a flat growth. PerkinElmer with 7 IT jobs and AlayaCare with 6 jobs, recorded a 40% growth and a 25% decrease, respectively, while Synaptive Medical recorded an increase of 150% with 5 job postings during March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.67%, down by 20.9% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.67% share, registered a decline of 54.17% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.67% share, down 38.89% over February 2022.
