Canada’s medical industry registered a 6.6% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.82% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the medical industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.87% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s medical industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s medical industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.93% in May 2022, registering a 42.11% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed a 19.64% share, a decrease of 21.43% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 10.71%, registering a 100% rise from April 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 8.93%, up 25% over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 28.85% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s medical industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Sonova posted 14 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 46.15% over the previous month, followed by Intelerad Medical Systems with 7 jobs and a 61.11% drop. em-tec with 6 IT jobs and Danaher with 6 jobs, recorded a 20% growth and a 100% growth, respectively, while Fluidigm recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75%, down by 25% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.29% share, registered a decline of 50% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.71% share, down 33.33% over April 2022.
