The medical industry’s overall hiring activity declined 5.36% when compared with July 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for an 8.22% share of the global medical industry’s hiring activity in August 2022, down 0.5% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2022 were 15.55% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 33.77% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 50.43% emerged as the top IT occupation in the medical hiring activity in August 2022, a 19.02% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 15.78% in August 2022, down 0.77% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer Support Specialists with a 12.17% share in August 2022, a decline of 34.92% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with an 11.44% share in August 2022 and a drop of 6.62% over July 2022.
Top five medical companies by recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.03% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global medical industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Thermo Fisher Scientific posted 225 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 11.76% over the previous month, followed by Danaher with 144 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Koninklijke Philips with 135 IT jobs and Medtronic with 135 jobs, recorded a 14.56% decline and a 51.26% drop, respectively, while Carl Zeiss recorded a 17.02% rise with 110 job postings during August 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in medical industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global medical IT hiring activity in August 2022 with a 58.66% share, which marked a 10.3% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 19.8%, registering a 38.92% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 19.23% share and a 10.23% drop over July 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.58% and a month-on-month drop of 30.36%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.73%, registering a 21.74% decrease over the previous month.
