The UK’s medical industry registered a 22.2% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.57% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the medical industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 11.04% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 1.71% over the last three-month average share.


Top five job classifications in the UK’s medical industry’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.6% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s medical industry in January 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 53.41% in January 2022, registering a 66.25% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 21.69% share, an increase of 68.75% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 14.46%, registering an 111.76% rise from December 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 7.23%, up 125% over the previous month.


Top five medical companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 341.94% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s medical industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Arjo posted 55 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 189.47% over the previous month, followed by LumiraDx with 38 jobs and a flat growth. Intelerad Medical Systems with 16 IT jobs and Medtronic with 14 jobs, recorded a 220% growth and a 366.67% growth, respectively, while Sartorius recorded an increase of 250% with 14 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 81.12%, up by 74.14% from December 2022. Entry Level positions with a 10.44% share, registered an increase of 52.94% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.43% share, up 40% over December 2022.
