NuVasive, a minimally disruptive surgical products maker, has acquired Impulse Monitoring, a US-based intra-operative monitoring provider.

The acquisition will increase the penetration of NuVasive’s existing proprietary nerve monitoring system, NeuroVision, which is designed for discreet and directional nerve avoidance and detection making lateral access to the spine during the XLIF procedure more safe and reproducible.

NuVasive’s products are based on its Maximum Access Surgery platform, which combines four categories of products that collectively minimise soft tissue disruption during spine surgery with maximum visualisation and safe, easy reproducibility for the surgeon.

NuVasive chairman and CEO Alex Lukianov said that the company looks forward to expanding the company’s intra-operative monitoring network nationwide.
