BioIQ and Assurance Scientific Laboratories have entered a partnership to bring over-the-counter (OTC) RT-PCR Covid-19 testing to market.
The direct-to-consumer format of the test received the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) emergency use authorisation (EUA). It helps to test asymptomatic individuals for Covid-19 without requiring a prescription from the physician.

The solution expands BioIQ’s broad digital health platform for Covid-19 testing and vaccination, which covers home, worksite, community, and retail settings.
The Assurance Scientific offering enhances BioIQ’s retail pharmacy solutions and also expands access to and the convenience of Covid-19 testing to support counteract social determinant of health (SDOH) variables and healthcare discrepancies caused by Covid-19.
BioIQ noted that the OTC at-home test kit can be collected at a retail or employer site.
Using a nasal swab, the sample is collected in an at-home setting and can be sent for sample processing in a prepaid mailer to Assurance Scientific within 24-48 hours.

The OTC test addition to the digital diagnostic testing network of BioIQ comes soon after the launch of Covid-19 variant testing and mobile, on-site Covid-19 worksite testing solutions available through the national lab network of BioIQ.
Last June, BioIQ partnered with P23 Labs to launch a new at-home test for Covid-19 that combines Covid-19, Flu A / Flu B, and a 21 Test Respiratory Panel from a single saliva sample.
