care.ai will power its autonomous monitoring platform using Google‘s Coral Edge tensor processing unit (TPU) after the two companies partnered.

The collaboration means care.ai’s platform will be able to use speedy neural networks to convert an ordinary room into a ‘self-aware room’ at enterprise scale.

Several thousands of patients die every year due to avoidable falls, pressure ulcers, infectious disease, and other preventative medical errors.

care.ai claimed that its invention will offer a transformative impact across clinical and operational processes to set up a new standard of care.

Using several modalities, care.ai sends intelligent context-aware notifications to staff so that they can stay alert to the happenings in a room at any point of time. Due to this knowledge, reactive tasks get transformed into intelligent, proactive workflows.

care.ai founder and CEO Chakri Toleti said: “Imagine if we brought the power of AI with autonomous monitoring to healthcare environments, we could prevent injuries, diseases, protocol breaches, and ultimately fatalities while improving staff efficiency.

“By utilising Google’s Edge TPU, care.ai has done just that. We have built an AI sensor to monitor, predict, and infer behaviours using billions of data points in real-time. It is truly the world’s most advanced AI platform for healthcare.”

care.ai’s patent-pending platform will enable organisations to seamlessly adapt and integrate AI into their environments.

Given that its advanced deep neural networks operate at the edge, predictive power gets maximised to nanoseconds, offering substantial improvements to operational readiness and clinical quality.

Coral director Billy Rutledge said: “We believe we are on the cusp of an amazing revolution for AI in healthcare and are proud to partner with care.ai to witness it becoming a reality.

“By combining care.ai’s AI-powered autonomous monitoring platform with our edge computing framework, we can address some of the most demanding challenges in healthcare in a way that’s never been accomplished before this collaboration.”

The platform’s neural network algorithms are based using an extensive library of human behavioural data, that is proprietary to care.ai.

The company claimed that its deep neural networks can learn and evolve on a more advanced level compared to other healthcare solution.
