DispatchHealth has acquired mobile imaging company Professional Portable X-Ray (PPX) to offer imaging services when needed for home visit patients.
The latest deal will aid DispatchHealth in continuing to build its in-home care system by expanding its existing service specialities to include mobile radiology.
Initially, the combined services will be launched within the companies’ Phoenix, Arizona service area and then expanded across DispatchHealth’s US footprint.
The in-home care model of DispatchHealth continues to be vital during the Covid-19 pandemic, as patients and health systems look for new ways to avoid unnecessary exposure to the virus.
DispatchHealth CEO and co-founder Dr Mark Prather said: “20% of DispatchHealth’s current acute care visits require radiography and/or ultrasonography. This overall volume will only continue to grow as we expand into new markets.
“We look forward to expanding PPX’s innovative platform into our larger markets while simultaneously activating our services in its current markets.”
With the acquisition, PPX’s imaging services will be incorporated into DispatchHealth’s existing clinical service offerings consisting of acute, advanced and extended care.
A patient can request DispatchHealth’s acute care services through its website, mobile app or over the phone. Advanced and extended care aids patients, who previously needed expensive facility-based care, are now able to receive treatment in an at-home setting.
Both advanced care and extended care provide eligible patients with a dedicated 24/7 on-call DispatchHealth medical team, which includes an internal medicine trained doctor and an assistant or nurse.
PPX CEO and co-founder Sue McNamee said: “Our goal to provide excellent patient care outside the traditional hospital or clinic setting aligns well with DispatchHealth’s mission to build the most advanced in-home care model, making them the perfect partner to support our ongoing growth.
“By integrating our expertise in mobile imaging with DispatchHeath’s unique technology-enabled care model, the company is uniquely positioned to become the marketplace for in-home healthcare services nationwide.”
