Johnson and Johnson’s (J&J) division DePuy Synthes has introduced a new pre-sterilised, single-use kit comprising instruments and implants required to treat wrist fractures.
Designed to improve operating efficiency, minimise sterilisation costs and optimise the procedure, Distal Radius Sterile Kit includes DePuy’s plate and screw implants, alongside the single-use instrumentation.
The kit is expected to eliminate more than 60% of the steps involved in reusable sets’ processing.
DePuy Synthes Trauma global franchise leader IV Hall said: “The Distal Radius Sterile Kit is an example of how we are responding to customer needs by providing value beyond the implant.
“By combining our market-leading plate and screw solution with single-use instrumentation, we are supporting our customers ranging from academic medical centres to community hospitals in providing high-quality care in an efficient, cost-effective way.”
The firm developed the kit to meet the increasing demand for a solution that would allow surgeons and providers to deliver high-quality treatment for patients.
The Variable Angle LCP Two-Column Volar Distal Radius Plate, a variety of screws and the common instrumentation used for 80% of distal radius fractures are included in the new kit.
The simplified composition is expected to enable repeatable procedures with better consistency.
DePuy Synthes develops devices for various orthopaedic specialities such as joint reconstruction, trauma, craniomaxillofacial and spinal surgery.
Earlier this month, the firm has launched the first Attune Knee System revision options in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The ATTUNE Revision Fixed Bearing Tibial Base is designed to address a range of patient needs, from complex primary to partial revision of ATTUNE Primary Knees.
