Handicare Group AB (Handicare), a Swedish supplier of technical aids for the elderly and physically disabled, and medical equipment supplier Prism Medical have entered an agreement that will see the former acquire all of the outstanding common shares of the latter for C$62m ($47.66m).
The acquisition will enable Handicare to access greater opportunities in the North American market, while the combined product portfolio of the companies will serve as a platform for further growth.
Medtronic, one of the biggest makers of heart-rhythm devices, has announced that it will buy HeartWare International, a provider of circulatory support devices for advanced heart failure treatment based in Massachusetts, US, for approximately $1.1bn.
Expected to close before 28 October, the acquisition will expand Medtronic’s portfolio of diagnostic tools, therapies and services for patients prone to heart failure.
Dentsply Sirona has announced that it will acquire all of the outstanding shares of MIS Implants Technologies, a dental implant systems developer, for a cash consideration of $375m.
Moelis & Company is the financial adviser for the transaction, which will help Dentsply Sirona to serve the value segment of the implant market.
