US-based Masimo has received CE Mark clearance for the iSpO2 Rx pulse oximeter for Android and iOS devices for medical use in select countries.
The clearance will help clinicians have access to Masimo SET measure-through-motion and low-perfusion pulse oximetry.

iSpO2 Rx is currently available outside the US and provides accurate spot-check and short-term assessment of oxygen saturation (iSpO2), pulse rate (PR), and perfusion index (PI).
It is suitable for emergency clinicians who want the convenience and availability of pulse oximetry at times when other Masimo handheld oximetry solutions may not be available; as well as for those on the move who require convenient and portable solutions.
The company said that patients under the care of a physician for chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and bronchiectasis, may benefit from the use of a pulse oximeter for spot checks.
Pulse oximetry is also suitable for patients under the care of a physician, who may use it to evaluate the severity of their asthma attack to help determine if a doctor or emergency room visit is needed.
