US-based Terumo Cardiovascular Group is set to distribute Nonin Medical’s SenSmart Model X-100 Universal Oximetry System to adult and paediatric cardiovascular hospitals in the US.
In May 2013, Terumo and Nonin entered into a distribution agreement and the latest deal for SenSmart system is its expansion.

Terumo Cardiovascular Group cardiovascular monitoring senior product manager Carol Koch said: "The result is the SenSmart Model X-100 Universal Oximetry System, an intuitive and easy-to-use device that delivers both pulse and regional oximetry measurements today, and is designed to accommodate more parameters in the future."
The SenSmart system offers measurements of both regional oximetry (rSO2) and pulse oximetry (SpO2), as well as provides monitoring of up to six-channels of rSO2 and SpO2 in a side by side view.
The system is claimed to help anaesthesiologists, perfusionists and cardiovascular surgeons to quickly identify tissue ischemia events before they become critical.

Compared with previous versions, the signal processor in the SenSmart system is substantially smaller and suitable for use in several settings where space is an issue, such as the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) or intensive care unit (ICU).

Additionally, the system’s SenSmart Monitor offers Bluetooth wireless or RS232 case download connectivity, as well as connectivity with Philips IntelliVue Monitors through VueLink or IntelliBridge interface.
