AI-powered surgical technology company Proprio has entered a strategic partnership with Biedermann Group to fast-track innovation in spine surgery.

The collaboration will focus on integrating Biedermann’s spinal implants with Proprio’s Paradigm system, which leverages computer vision, AI and augmented reality for enhanced surgical navigation.

Proprip’s Paradigm system offers real-time, 3D anatomical visualisation to surgeons, which adjusts to patient positioning changes during surgery.

The AI-driven system is designed to significantly enhance surgical precision, workflow, and decision-making, ultimately improving patient outcomes by capturing and analysing vast amounts of data.

Proprio CEO and co-founder Gabriel Jones said: “This collaboration with Biedermann will further increase the Paradigm platform’s unique capabilities to positively impact patient results through data-based planning and performance.

“At Proprio, we are committed to providing surgeons with only the best possible tools. We are excited to accelerate this critical partnership with Biedermann so that clinicians and patients alike can benefit from our advanced surgical guidance capabilities.”

Biedermann’s advanced spinal implant technology combined with the Paradigm system’s AI insights and 3D navigation is poised to set a new standard in spine surgery.

This partnership aims to improve surgical accuracy and efficiency, lower radiation exposure and offer valuable intraoperative data for better surgical decisions.

Biedermann Motech chairman and CEO Markku Biedermann said: “We believe that the unique combination of our next-generation implant technologies with Proprio’s advanced surgical platform will enable surgeons to accomplish things they haven’t been able to before.

“Our collaborative research will focus on how the fusion of technology can have a profound and beneficial impact on surgical processes and results, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.”

Last year, Proprio obtained 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for the Paradigm surgical navigation platform.
