MaskForce consortium, led by Husco, has designed, developed and manufactured a face mask that can be reused. The mask been approved by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA). Husco’s headquarters in Waukesha in Wisconsin is currently carrying out the initial production of 100,000 masks.

Medtronic has announced that it will donate sensors, infusion sets and reservoirs worth $1m to Insulin for Life USA, in a bid to aid the fight against Covid-19. Insulin for Life USA will then donate the products to patients who require insulin pump therapy and are facing financial burden due to Covid-19. The supplies will be given to around 15 diabetes clinics in the country that serve people in need who have type 1 diabetes.

CLIA-accredited laboratory Gene By Gene has announced that it will carry out diagnostic test to detect nucleic acid from the Covid-19-causing virus, SARS-CoV-2. The test by Gene By Gene is a molecular-based assay that can detect the presence of viral RNA in respiratory specimens. The test is now available to authorised healthcare providers.

The FDA has given provided EUA to a NASA developed ventilator, which is expected to be used to treating patients who are infected by Covid-19. The EUA was issued due to the reduced supply of ventilators approved by the FDA that can be used in treating Covid-19.
