Mazor Robotics’s surgical guidance system, designed for use in spine procedures, has been purchased by Texas-based Foundation Surgical Hospital (FSH), a provider of surgical procedures and medical services.

The robotic system, Renaissance, delivers less radiation and is used in minimally invasive surgery to treat scoliosis and other complex spinal deformity cases.

Numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations have also validated the accuracy, usability and clinical advantages of the Renaissance system, according to the company.

Alamo Neurosurgical Institute executive director Dr Michael Leonard said as a neurosurgeon, he appreciates the benefits of robotic technology that allows surgery to be performed with more precision, accuracy and less risk.

“This technology is the wave of the future, and I’m excited about being on the forefront of its introduction to the spine surgery community in San Antonio,” Leonard said.
