The deployment incorporates AI through the BD Pyxis Pro Dispensing Solution with Analytics in BD Incada.
This technology provides Wellstar with enterprise-wide access to medication inventory information and analytical insights in real time via natural language queries.
The system offers customisable dashboards that turn the data into actionable insights, helping clinicians track medication trends, manage inventory, reduce waste, and improve workflow efficiency.
BD Alaris electronic medical record (EMR) interoperability also enables Wellstar staff to send infusion orders straight from electronic medical records using barcode scanning, with infusion statuses being reported back into the EMR.
Wellstar Health pharmacy services vice president Susan Wrightsaid said: “At Wellstar, our focus is on delivering safe, innovative care to every patient, every time. Partnering with BD to implement this technology strengthens our ability to focus on patient-centred programmes and empower our teams to deliver care with confidence and compassion.”
Wellstar contributes to BD’s Strategic Development Council for Medication Management Solutions, offering expertise in pharmacy operations, medication safety, nursing, and informatics.
According to BD, the input guides ongoing and future innovation for medication management technologies intended to tackle issues encountered by large healthcare networks.
BD medication management solutions worldwide president Connor Bates said: “BD is proud to partner with Wellstar to advance medication safety and help ensure patients receive the right medications at the right time.
“By integrating BD Pyxis and BD Alaris technologies, Wellstar is setting an example of how health systems can achieve connected, intelligent medication management that benefits both patients and clinicians.”
In March 2026, BD secured the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for the Surgiphor 1,000mL antimicrobial irrigation system, designed for powered lavage.
