The medical industry’s overall hiring activity declined 0.32% when compared with July 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 9.91% share of the global medical industry’s hiring activity in August 2021, up 0.57% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2021 were 0.06% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 0.11% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 60.43% emerged as the top IT occupation in the medical hiring activity in August 2021, a 13.1% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 9.63% in August 2021, up 9.23% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with an 8.75% share in August 2021, a growth of 1.31% over the previous month, and Computer Support Specialists with an 8.66% share in August 2021 and a rise of 18.58% over July 2021.
Top five medical companies by recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 6.55% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global medical industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Demant posted 352 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 44.86% over the previous month, followed by Sonova with 336 jobs and a 17.44% decline. Danaher with 319 IT jobs and GE Healthcare with 189 jobs, recorded a 25.81% decline and a 24.4% drop, respectively, while Becton Dickinson and recorded a 24.5% rise with 188 job postings during August 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in medical industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global medical IT hiring activity in August 2021 with a 57.76% share, which marked an 11.13% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 23.41%, registering a 26.37% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 17.13% share and a 12.67% drop over July 2021.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.9% and a month-on-month rise of 37.93%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.77%, registering a 71.9% decrease over the previous month.
