Getinge has launched a new framework for social financing and a new social bond of SEK 570 million (€56.6m). The capital will be used to expand the production capacity of extracorporeal life support (ECLS) products for the treatment of patients in a highly critical condition and to expand the production of BetaBags, which are used to minimise the risk of contamination in connection with drug production.
HD Medical appoints new chief medical officer
On 2 June, leading artificial intelligence (AI) and cardiovascular device company HD Medical announced it had appointed Shaun Setty as its chief medical officer. Setty is a cardiothoracic surgeon who played a key role in the launch of HD Medical’s flagship product HD Steth, a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared intelligent stethoscope that integrates electrocardiogram and phonocardiogram into one device.
Setty has over 13 years of experience in paediatric and adult congenital heart surgery. He is triple-board certified in surgery, thoracic surgery and congenital heart surgery, with experience in all aspects of cardiac surgery. He also has experience in robotic and transplant surgery and is currently involved in multiple basic and clinical cardiac research projects.
