Asia-Pacific’s medical industry IT hiring activity drops 5.7% in December 2021

Asia-Pacific witnessed a 5.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the medical industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

December 2021 has seen a decrease of 8.97% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 15.37% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 73.8% in December 2021, a 25.56% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.25% in December 2021, marking a 29.87% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 6.68% in December 2021, a 37.1% drop from November 2021.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 5.82% in December 2021, a 39.29% decline over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 25.85% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s medical industry during December 2021 over previous month.

GE Healthcare posted 114 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 5.56% over the previous month, followed by Danaher with 64 jobs and a 49.61% drop. Thermo Fisher Scientific with 61 IT jobs and Demant with 53 jobs, recorded a 35.79% drop and a 15.87% drop, respectively, while Medtronic recorded a 27.08% decline with 35 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s medical industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s medical industry IT hiring activity with a 65.07% share in December 2021, a 29.63% decrease over November 2021. China featured next with an 11.13% share, down 36.89% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 7.53% share, a flat growth compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.67%, down by 26.8% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.4% share, registered a decline of 36.76% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.76% share, down 17.39% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.17%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
