South & Central America’s medical industry IT hiring activity drops 1.1% in December 2021

South & Central America witnessed a 1.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the medical industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

December 2021 has seen a decrease of 12.61% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.97% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.36% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 50% in December 2021, an 18.18% rise over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 19.23% in December 2021, marking a 150% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 15.38% in December 2021, a 300% rise from November 2021.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 11.54% in December 2021, a 25% decline over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 225% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s medical industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Boston Scientific posted 3 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 200% over the previous month, followed by MV Informatica Nordeste with 3 jobs and a flat growth. Terumo with 3 IT jobs and Envista with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Danaher recorded a 100% increase with 2 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s medical industry

Costa Rica commanded a leading presence in the region’s medical industry IT hiring activity with a 38.46% share in December 2021, a 25% increase over November 2021. Brazil featured next with a 30.77% share, up 60% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 15.38% share, a growth of 33.33% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.54%, down by 15.79% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 34.62% share, registered a growth of 350% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 3.85% share, flat growth over November 2021.
