Selecting the correct micro mould material, resin and thermoplastic are absolutely critical.

Micro moulding often involves exotic or highly engineered compounds called thermoplastic resins. Accumold is accustomed to working with materials such as polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyetherimide (PEI) Ultem®, carbon-filled liquid crystal polymers (LCP), or glass-filled nylon. Soft durometer or elastomeric resins also are common. Accumold’s experience using these materials in micro moulding optimises the performance of the resin / part design combination.

The company’s extensive experience working with various thermoplastics makes us experts on exactly how to match up the proper material to the appropriate part geometry, robustness and performance.

When pushing the limits of moulded plastic parts the material selection process often goes beyond the data sheet. Knowing what materials will work in any given situation is an invaluable part of our 30-year history moulding thermoplastics in micro spaces.
