Danish company Corti has launched Corti Assist, an AI-based tool that can provide real-time assistance for healthcare professionals (HCPs).
Using a combination of AI, machine learning (ML), and speech recognition technology, the platform is designed to give HCPs real-time insights and recommendations during patient consultations.

The company describes the foundation model underpinning the tool, which has been trained on more than 250,000 patient interactions, as “supportive computing”.
According to Corti, the tool is capable of reasoning from a patient interaction as it happens, providing HCPs with live insights and interactive support and documentation including notetaking and live written summaries.
The tool is now available in the US, UK, and Europe.
Corti’s co-founder and chief technology officer Lars Maaløe stated that the company has not just created another dictation tool.

The company also claims that its tool may help in reducing medical errors. Past research has found that around 6% of patients in the UK experience preventable harm during medical care, with 12% of such cases resulting in severe harm or death. Additional research has found that more than 237 million medication errors are made every year in England, the avoidable consequences of which cost the UK National Health Service (NHS) over £98m and more than 1,700 lives annually.
Dr Frederik Brabant, chief medical strategy officer at Corti, said that healthcare is “more than the seven-minute trivial visit” and as much about the cases practitioners take home with them.
“Every doctor knows that moment of doubt behind closed doors – when you wish you had someone to turn to, someone to validate your thinking,” said Brabant.
“This isn’t about replacing human judgment; it’s about ensuring no physician ever has to feel alone in those critical moments of care.”
Corti Assist’s launch follows the completion of a 507-person survey of HCPs in the UK. Conducted on behalf of Corti by YouGov, 57% of HCPs reported seeing significant value in having an experienced colleague present during patient consultations. However, HCPs in need of assistance said they were often unable to receive it due to colleagues being either too busy or too stressed to provide support, at 55% and 36% respectively. A further 50% of respondents reported that having a second opinion from another medical professional would be beneficial for their work.
In September 2023, Corti closed a $60m Series B funding round co-led by venture capital firms Prosus Ventures and Atomico.
Elsewhere in AI, this month the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) selected five technologies for its AI Airlock pilot – a scheme designed to explore how AI can be regulated in the medical device field to enable products to be delivered safely and quickly.
