Kardium has secured up to C$31.25m ($22.5m) from the Government of Canada for the Globe pulsed field system in British Columbia.
Provided through the Strategic Response Fund, the financing will go towards the company’s C$125m project aimed at increasing production of the cardiac mapping and ablation device.

This announcement was made by Canada Industry Minister and Quebec Regions Canada Economic Development Minister Mélanie Joly.
The initiative includes a major enlargement of Kardium’s cleanroom facility in Vancouver, designed to bolster its infrastructure and facilitate growth.
The expansion is expected to scale up the manufacture of the Globe system while maintaining key intellectual property, expertise and jobs in Canada.
Kardium’s Globe system is intended for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, combining high-density mapping with pulsed field ablation in one catheter.
It provides real-time data to assist doctors with catheter positioning, tissue contact evaluation, and application of precise treatment.
The device received approval from Health Canada in July 2026 and from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in August 2025.

“By supporting Kardium’s expansion, the Government of Canada is strengthening Canada’s advanced manufacturing capacity, creating high-value jobs, and ensuring British Columbia remains at the forefront of innovation in the medical sector.”
Kardium CEO Kevin Chaplin said: “Kardium is proud to be developing and manufacturing our innovative medical technology here in British Columbia.

Earlier this year, Kardium unveiled further results from the pivotal trial of the Globe system, demonstrating its success in pulmonary vein isolation and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation treatment.
