US-based ventilation monitoring firm Respiratory Motion and Chinese firm Corestone Biosciences have signed an agreement to form a joint venture (JV) company in China.

The JV is set to provide new respiratory volume monitors that will be designed based on Respiratory Motion’s ExSpiron platform.

Intended to cater to the Chinese, as well as other international markets, the JV will additionally offer new critical care solutions for hospital and home care segments.

Corestone Biosciences chairman Weiping Yang said: “The establishment of this joint venture with CorestoneBio comes at a time of growing demand for respiratory solutions in China and globally.

“Respiratory Motion is an ideal partner in our efforts to meet the demand of physicians in China who have been waiting for a product that can reliably identify and continuously monitor respiratory compromise.”

“ExBMS is developed for accurate and reliable measurement of patient respiration, eliminating the need for calibration.”

Apart from the ExSpiron Basic Monitoring Software (ExBMS) for non-invasive respiratory measurement, Respiratory Motion will contribute its expertise in the development of high-tech monitoring platforms.
