Stevanato Group has introduced Deora, a multi-use, fixed-dose pen injector designed to support subcutaneous delivery of therapies for diabetes and weight management, as well as other drug development programmes.

The company stated that the device targets incretin-based therapies, with compatibility for both original and biosimilar drugs.

Deora is designed to simplify dose administration through its pull-push mechanism, where users pull to set the dose and push to inject.

This design eliminates manual dose selection, which the company says may reduce common use errors and support consistent drug delivery over multiple administrations.

The device can accommodate fixed-dose volumes up to 0.75mL and is compatible with standard 1.5mL and 3mL cartridges, allowing use across various therapeutic areas.

According to Stevanato Group, Deora features tactile, visual and audible feedback during operation. The company highlights that this could help in reducing use errors and enhancing patient usability.

The device has been designed to allow integration into existing supply chains, supporting industrialisation and scalable manufacturing for pharmaceutical customers.

Stevanato Group drug delivery systems and in vitro diagnostics president Michele Monico said: “With Deora, we are broadening our product offering in therapeutic areas experiencing strong global demand and favourable market momentum.

“We believe there is space for a simple, multi-use device that enhances the patient experience while simultaneously reducing the pressure on supply chain scale-up.

“Our belief has been supported by early customer interest, and we are providing our pharmaceutical partners with evaluation units to support early-stage testing and development activities.”

The device’s architecture enables flexibility for multiple fixed-dose configurations and can be adapted with minimal design changes for different variants.

Stevanato Group states that Deora expands its proprietary portfolio of drug delivery devices, which also includes platforms such as Alina and Aidaptus.

The company claims that its capabilities in glass manufacturing, analytical services, and device engineering can offer integrated solutions supporting pharmaceutical partners from development to scale-up.
