American cardiologist Eric Topol shared research from a US study developing machine learning models for the electrocardiogram (ECG) diagnosis of occlusion myocardial infarction (OMI).

Using 7,313 consecutive patients from multiple clinical sites, the study derived and externally validated an intelligent model that outperformed practicing clinicians and other widely used interpretation systems, substantially boosting both precision and sensitivity.

Topol also tweeted on the latest US SARSCoV2 genomics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID data tracker which shows continued XBB.1.16 growth advantage vs XBB.1.5 variant.

An article by the Wall Street Journal also attracted attention. The article highlights how lung cancer causes more deaths than any cancer each year, but only 6% of people eligible get the screening test that can be lifesaving.
