Luminex Corporation has received Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its xMAP® SARS-CoV-2 Multi-Antigen IgG Assay. The test can be operated on any of its xMAP-based high-throughput, gold-standard multiplex platforms which provides a better and reliable evaluation of immune response.

The Linux Foundation has launched a new initiative to use open-source technologies to support the public health authorities (PHAs) to tackle Covid-19 and future epidemics. The new Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH) initiative is joined by seven permier members; Cisco, doc.ai, Geometer, IBM, NearForm, Tencent, and VMware. It also includes COVID Shield and COVID Green, two hosted exposure notifications projects deployed in Canada, Ireland, and many states in the US.

Inland Empire Health Plan has secured, packaged and coordinated donations of over 2.4 million units of personal protective equipment (PPE), amid the Covid-19 pandemic which has led to a shortage of PPE. This initiative is said to have taken more than three months of planning. PPE was distributed to 15 local agencies.

The UK government has worked with suppliers in Port Talbot and Blackburn to secure production of high-quality face coverings. In the coming weeks, another site in Livingston, Scotland will begin manufacturing of face coverings. These sites will help address the need for higher-grade face masks for NHS front line staff.
