Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the first Covid-19 testing kit developed in India, by Delhi-based Oscar Medicare. The point-of-care (POC) rapid test kit is reportedly capable of identifying antibodies within 30 seconds using blood from a finger prick.
Relay Medical and Fio Corporation have launched Fionet, a first-of-its-kind mobile testing platform for organisations to manage and track on-site Covid-19 testing. The groups are in talks with different potential partners for trial deployments. The joint venture was formed on 19 August and has its headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

Abbott has received Emergency Use Authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration for its BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card rapid test to detect Covid-19. The company plans to market the test at a value of $5. The test is said to be highly portable, affordable and offers results within 15 minutes.

Kimball Research Institute has announced that the Clungene SARS-CoV-2 Virus (Covid-19) IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette has shown a high degree of sensitivity and specificity for the detection of Covid-19 antibodies. The study was carried out using convalescent blood plasma after it received authorisation from patients who did not show symptoms for 14 days before donation and self-reported Covid-19 infections.
