The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) to Quest Diagnostics to use specimen pooling with its molecular diagnostic test for Covid-19. In pooling method, the samples from the patients are collected in separate vials and are then combined into batches, which are tested. This method is said to be effective in regions where there is a low rate of infection.

EDM Medical Solutions has launched its computed tomography (CT) scanner drapes and other medical equipment covers, as part of an initiative to reduce the spread of infections such as Covid-19 in the medical environment. These covers are single-use and sterile and are the latest addition to a suite of infection control supplies. UK to roll out free finger-prick Covid-19 antibody tests

The British government has planned to roll out millions of free finger-prick Covid-19 antibody tests that provide instant results, according to the Telegraph. The tests were developed by University of Oxford consortium that is said to have shown 98.6% accuracy in human trials which were carried out in last month.

A test developed at Monash University in Australia has detected positive Covid-19 cases using blood samples in around 20 minutes. This is expected to advance the effort to decrease the Covid-19 community spread using robust contact tracing. Researchers could detect recent Covid-19 cases using 25 microlitres of plasma.
