Canada’s medical industry registered a 6.0% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.7% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the medical industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 14.52% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 1.32% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s medical industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s medical industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 70% in September 2021, registering a 10.64% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 11.67% share, a decrease of 6.67% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 7.5%, registering a 35.71% decline from August 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 7.5%, up 50% over the previous month.
Top five medical companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 6.93% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s medical industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Sonova posted 40 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 2.44% over the previous month, followed by Intelerad Medical Systems with 38 jobs and a 5% drop. PerkinElmer with 6 IT jobs and Danaher with 5 jobs, recorded a 33.33% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while ResMed recorded a decline of 16.67% with 5 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70%, down by 4.55% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with an 18.33% share, registered a decline of 46.34% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.67% share, up 133.33% over August 2021.
