US-based digital health company Qardio has unveiled its first wearable medical electrocardiogram (ECG / EKG) monitor, QardioCore for preventive healthcare.
QardioCore has been designed with proprietary sensor technology which records ECG, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, temperature and activity data of the heart on a continuous basis.
Qardio CTO Rosario Iannella said: “Cardiovascular health is the biggest health challenge in the developed world and with QardioCore, we make it easier, better and more cost-effective for everyone.
“The ability to view and analyse such important data remotely and in context, as it is being generated, can substantially enhance the diagnostic yield.
“QardioCore is a game-changer for doctors, patients and health conscious individuals, and a big step towards preventative health.”
It can record more than 20 million data points and convey the data by streaming it live in the user’s smartphone.
Users can download the free Qardio App compatible on iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple Health.
The data can then be remotely shared with healthcare professionals offering a better insight into patient’s health and thereby paving the way for better health monitoring and preventative care.
The water-resistant device is worn like a chest strap and is suited for people with increased health risk due to family predisposition, history of heart attacks or strokes, high-blood pressure, high-cholesterol, diabetes and excess weight.
